New Arrivals: ‘PX’ Goods!
The Vespinoy Community is abuzz with the arrival of brand new Vespa PX 150 (the most popular Vespa model of all time) at 2211 Works in Leon Guinto, Manila. As far as I know, it’s been over a year since a batch of brand new Vespa PX’s arrived in the country. There wasn’t any when I was looking for one in early 2006.

The exact model of the new arrival is 2007 Vespa PX150 Catalyzed. I haven’t been to 2211 to see the unit for myself but I have been hearing good feedback so far.
Apparently, the unit already has a Catalyctic Converter, something non-existent in PX models of yesteryears. I actually first heard of these catalyctic thingamajigs in muffler repair shops and emission testing centers a few years ago when LTO started enforcing The Clean Air Act to motorists. The clean air advocates will be pleased with this new development in two-stoke engines.
From what I’ve heard, this has been standard in PX’s released in the US (PX 150 Serie America) since these 2-stoke scooters were reintroduced to the American Market in 2004 (Vespa pulled-out of the US in 1981 due to environmental restrictions).
Aside from that, Bimbo said this new PX 150 looks exactly like it’s 200cc counterpart so I’m assuming the new arrivals already have a front disc break and halogen headlight among others. Cool… there’s no need for any upgrade!
It has been reported that the new PX 150 is being sold at a whopping P190,000!!! Glad I can’t afford it so I won’t drool so much. Despite that, they say that stocks might soon be going… going… gone!

Anyway, back on topic. The new PX’s are really nothing more than “catalyzed” version of the PX200′s well with a 150cc engine, so those with upgraded PX’s and stock 200′s can heave a collective sigh of relief…me included..and with a price tag of 190k, it’s just too rich for me.
Don’t be too modest, Bimbs. Kanina, I was reading the ‘Reminiscing’ series in your blog and I have to say that those are pretty good stuff! I especially like the sound effects of a scooter crashing. That I can never pull-off.
About the new PX, I’m indeed glad to hear your take on it. I should be happy and content with what I already have.
