Vespa Ads for the Twentysomethings!

May 17, 2007

This series of print ads was done for Colorado Vespa by McClain Finlon. The ads are actually quite simple with crop-outs and close-ups of different parts of the scoot for each ad which were primarily targeted to a younger demographic. Here’s how the ad agency described the series:

Ahh, the Vespa. Baby Boomers loved them because they looked swell in Fellini films. Now twenty-somethings love them because of this fun-loving campaign. So much so that sales shot up after the ads ran.

Take a look at these ad layouts:

It’s got that 20-something sense of humor and laziness, isn’t it? ;) See the other two ads.

With the adventures I had with my Vespa, some friends are telling me my mid-life crisis kicked in a bit too early. Maybe it’s the same case for the younger set. :)

Call me dumb, but I didn’t get the above line until I found out what the heck a “soul patch” is! In street-slang Tagalog, that’s the facial hair we refer to as “atchaka” (as in: bigote-atchaka-balbas) ;)

That’s my word-of-the-day!
