Vespa Spotting: Another couple got hitched on a Vespa!

I had previously blogged about Vespa weddings with pictures of couples across the globe riding a Vespa on their big day. But at that time, I haven’t personally known anyone who has done it. That was the case until the Nikki Confiado (the groom) got hitched late last May.
Nikki is one of my Vespa buddies but I have yet to personally meet him. In fact, it was PYKE (my scoot) who ‘introduced’ him to me when they met each other in Rockwell last year. I know that sounds weird so a little back story is in order…
You see, I only get to know other Vespa riders during rides, gatherings, hanging-out in (Vespa repair or accessories) shops or through Vespinoy — the online community for Pinoy Vespa riders. But I got to know Nikki in an odd way. He saw my scoot parked by the entrance of the Rockwell Tent during the Power Weddings bridal fair. He later told me that he wanted to find out who owned that black Vespa he saw but I wasn’t around. At that time, I was inside the Power Plant mall buying clothes since my daughter & I got drenched with the sudden downpour on our way to the fair. But since the local Vespa community is small and I’m practically the only Vespa guy who’s easily identified with the weddings, it was an easy and obvious connection. He then buzzed me thru YM and asked if it was my Vespa he saw that weekend, so I said yes. From there, we chatted about our passion for Italian scooters and talked a bit about his wedding plans (he asked some referrals/feedbacks with some wedding suppliers). I knew his wedding date, venue and even the people who will cover the event.
I was especially looking forward how he will integrate the Vespa on his big day. When we chatted days before his wedding, he told me that he & his friends would arrive at the church on their Vespas. That was really a cool idea and I was actually excited to see it in pictures. I don’t know if that plan pushed through though. I was actually looking forward for Dino to post some of the wedding pics in his blog to see how it went. But it was actually in Bob Nicolas’ blog where I first saw images from the wedding. I wouldn’t have known I was already watching Nikki & Lek’s wedding had I not seen the Vespa towards the end.
