Podcasting with SCTRCST.com – a scooter internet radio
This morning, I finally got to speak with Dave Magano of SCTRCST.com (that’s read as ‘scootercast’). The site is basically a scooter internet radio blog were Dave, who is based in the U.S., comes up with an episode/podcast every week.
Dave has gotten in touch with me last April when he found out about WRAV? through this post in 2strokebuzz.com. He told me he conducts his interviews via free internet phone (Skype) and suggested that we do it in May. Of course I was honored to be picked along with likes of some scooter bloggers like Steve Williams and Bryan Bedell who have gotten very popular with their good work they’ve done in their respective blogs. I knew I wanted to be part of this, but the idea terrifies me. Talking with a foreigner is hard enough with the nuances in the accent and all that; plus the thought that I would make a fool of myself is overpowering. I committed to Dave but for some reason, we have lost touch for a couple of months; which was all good for me since I wanted to delay the interview as much as I could until I could muster the guts.
Fast forward two months later… It’s already June and we emailed each other to talk about the interview again. The good thing is that my wife & I had just guested for the wedding special of a local radio talk show and were casually interviewed about this subject matter. We were both very nervous at the start, but everything turned out okay and we actually had fun from the experience. I figured, my anxiety about this podcast interview could all for naught, and I might actually enjoy it as well. So we scheduled a 10:30AM call today (Manila time – that’s 10:30PM of the previous day Richmond, Virginia where Dave is based).
And true enough, it turned out great! I have to admit I was pretty uncomfortable throughout the 30-minute interview. I am not particularly proud with how I answered some of his questions and I believe I could have made it sound more interesting (and less dumb! *bwahahaha!*). But our casual chat afterwards was fun. I even got the chance to turn things around and ask him about how he started in podcasting and how technical maintaining one can get. We also talked about some of his plans for future podcast episodes.
If you’re into scootering, I urge you to click your way to SCTRCST.com and listen to some of the episodes there. You don’t need an iPod to listen, you could simply click the PicklePlayer on his blog’s sidebar and hear any podcast right away in your computer. I particularly like the ones where Dave interviews other riders/bloggers and got to know these guys a little better. I just listened to Episode 17 and would like to thank Dave for the special mention. I’m flattered with the kind words.
I can’t wait to hear how our conversation will turn out once the episode comes out. I actually told Dave my concerns after the interview and he assured me he’ll edit it in such a way that will make me sound smart. *hahaha!*
holding my breath,
-o-
