Topic Off-Vespa: Rain Clouds in Open Skies!
I just realized that this is one of the very few times I’m posting a shot that I’ve actually taken here in my blog. I usually get by just borrowing photos from friends to accompany my writings. Admittedly, photography is not one of my stronger suits. I’m posting this picture I took recently, not because its technically passable, but because it captured such a rare sight.
Here’s a backgrounder: My family spent our Halloween in the island resort of El Nido. As we boarded the small plane back to Manila, the sky was gloomy but it wasn’t raining. Around five minutes after take off, I saw on my side of the window, dark clouds and fog hovering over what seemed to be a reef or a small island. Here’s what I saw…

As I looked more intently, I realized that what I was seeing is an actual rain shower over Palawan waters. I could even see the trickles it creates in the calm sea. Anywhere around the rain clouds is dry. It’s like the thing you only see in cartoons; a cloud of rain pouring in just one particular area. I called my wife & daughter to my side so they too could see the breathtaking site.
It was a sight to behold! I don’t want to sound blasphemous or anything but I felt like God to get that rare chance and have a bird’s eyeview of nature’s wonder in action. That’s closest thing to describe how I felt.
Breathtaking sight!
