A Pinoy scootering podcast interview (with 10 takes to intro!)

I was scouring my hardrive and searching the Vespinoy forum looking for a picture of Bimbo & me to go with this blog entry. The irony is that I found out that we have none together. hahaha! The images below are the best pics that I could find taken last year during the Vespinoy Christmas Party. Notice the subtle ‘good & evil’ theme (more like Mara Clara! hahaha). I was hoping to show you the faces behind the voices you’d hear in the podcast episode I’ll be discussing below.

Three Thursdays ago, Bimbo & I went on a conference call via skype with Dave Mangano of sctrcst.com who wanted to touchbase and know what we’ve been up to lately. Bimbs & I have done separate episodes for this scootering podcast/internet radio but it was our first time doing it together. Of course, I felt less pressured doing this one since its my second time and I’m with somebody whom I’m very comfortable with. Bimbo (I now call him “AmboyG”) always had an easy time doing interviews like this with his impeccable American accent… hahaha It was a very relaxed and free-wheeling interview. I hope you have fun listening to it as much as we had when we recorded it. Listen to the episode here.

I especially like how Dave edited the intro. We were suppose to say:

• John: This is John Rana of whoridesavespa.com
• Bimbo: And this is Bimbo Isidro of vespinoy.com
• both: And you’re listening to SCTRCST — scooter internet radio!

Because the spiel is quite a mouthful, both of has had to write what we were to say. Of course, we had no problems introducing ourselves. The challenging part was when Bimbo & I had to talk together. We tried it countless times but we just wouldn’t sync and we always ended up laughing. At one point, after we laughing so hard, we thought that Dave left us since we couldn’t hear him reacting anymore. We presumed that there was a lag with the calls that’s why we had a hard time with the cue and timing. To make a long intro story short, we didn’t get to finish recording our lines the way it was suppose to be.

We talked about several stuff we have previously tackled in our respective blogs like our mountain biking, the Highest Point/Mt. Data Ride and the then upcoming (we just got back grueling but fun 4-day ride last Sunday) Titanium Butt Ride/North Luzon Loop.

THE BIG SURPRISE: Towards the end of the interview, Dave revealed to me that the episode that I did with him is currently the most downloaded. Of course, it came as a big surprise and didn’t know how to react but laugh. It sure sounded like a joke. Like what I have said before, I am not mighty proud of that one (I was nervous as hell!) but I’m very thankful for all those who listened to it (especially to my 3,452 relatives!) hahaha!
