A sidecar fit for the Vespa GTV (fits GT too!)

Remember the gorgeous sidecar for the classic Vespa I posted a while ago?

Just last Tuesday, Gruppo Piaggio unveiled a prototype of a new sidecar design specially made for the modern Vespa line — particularly the GTV and GT models.

The gorgeous sidecar (prototype) was unveiled at the Milan International Bicycle and Motorbike Exhibition (IECMA).  For a 360° view, check out this very short clip of the scoot and the sidecar on the revolving platform.

In terms of looks, the GTV is my favorite among the modern Vespa line but I never really considered buying a second bike.  But having seen the images above, I’m drooling and thinking it wouldn’t hurt to get another one that looks exactly like that (hope my wife doesn’t read this. hahaha!). :D

…and I’m back!

It looks gorgeous! And Benz, you can be more comfortable in the sidecar! Your entire family can take a joy ride and you’d all fit in there. :)

Good luck trying to find a Vespa or Piaggio scooter shop that can provide a new scoot with a sidecar. Been there, done that, and had to settle for a way-too-big motorcycle +sidecar. I mostly drive around town with 24-30mpg. During the world-wide economic depression, maybe scooter sidecar outfits will replace tiny around-town cars like Smart and battery cars.

very cool sidecar. i recently purchased a “rebuilt” vespa vbb from the mid 60’s that was done in India . . . new 150cc engine with more horsepower than the original. It runs and looks fantasico! It also came with a sidecar – - new and built in India as well. . . scooter and sidecar are black with brown/tan seats that match. . . it is very sharp. I can put one of my kids in the sidecar and the other behind me. . . very easy and very fun. . . kids smile from ear to ear. I bought mine from an importer in Las Vegas named Steve Levesque. . . you can probably find him on the internet. I shipped it to Ohio for about $700. The scooter/sidecar is expensive, though. . . I paid $6500.. . . but it’s been worth every penny so far . . . the sidecar really seals the deal!
