The winners for the Art Vespa 2007 spearheaded by Vespa South Africa has just been announced. Click the images below for a closer look of the Top 3 placers.
The first placer will receive a brand new Vespa LX sporting his winning design. It was reported that Francesco Maffe, the contest’s judge, had a tough time choosing the winners from this year’s collection of sensational designs. In the end, the ones that caught the judge’s attention are those which stayed faithful in answering the brief (keep it simple, bold and add 2-dimensional color to painted areas only) in the most creative manner. The 2nd place looks like it’s from the pool of delivery scoots from Yellow Cab Pizza.

The past weeks have been really busy with work and rides. Mountain biking took a back seat and so was blogging here. I can’t say that I’m really back to blogging here since there are more things that I need to do.
In the mean time, let me share this Vespa I’ve spotted recently in the blogosphere. This is for wordpress bloggers hosting their own blogs especially for those who want a little Vespa-flavah in their blog layout.
This 3-column template was designed by mikozv and it’s so fresh that only five downloads have been logged as of this writing. Thinking of starting your own Vespa blog? This could well be the perfect template/blog layout to start with.
Early last month, I posted here my entry for the Art Vespa 2006 design contest by Vespa South Africa. I called it “The Original Levi’s Scoot” the design details of which you could see here.
Since then I have been asked by a few people if I already know who had won or if I had seen the other submitted designs. To answer the first question, here are the Top 3 winning designs:
The design of the first placer (dubbed as the Chicken Runner) is actually very simple yet quite imaginative. It has been reported that international Piaggio designer, Francesco Maffe had a tough time choosing the winners. Do you want to see the rest of the entries? Then, check this out! Been wanting to blog about this “Road to Lisbon” Adidas ad for quite some time now. The spot — shown in 2004 with a 2-minute running time — features numerous Vespas, Lambrettas and other EuroScoots. The concept depicts the football greats as they leave their respective home countries for the European Soccer Championship. The treatment is an epic-like journey, where the players and football fans ride their scooters and grew in droves as they headed to Portugal’s capital city. The commercial was shot various European cities (Paris, Madrid, Seville and Lisbon), cost €4.5 million, and took six months to complete. Here are more info about the ad from adidas-group.com:
My daughter has been a regular visitor of my blog since her feature here. In fact, she’s currently hooked on watching the stop/motion Vespa animation by Jack Salizzoni to the point of asking me to play it for her before she went to school this morning. I’m concerned that she’s turning out to be a Vespa addict more than me. Oh well, there’s no harm in that… or is there?
The other day, she stormed into our room to show something she found while surfing and gaming via disneychannel-asia.com. The cause of her excitement turns out to be this:
If you enjoyed listening to the Vespa anthem I posted the other day, here’s another tune which you will find equally engaging. It’s a funny story of a superhero adventure story with our mainman astride his Vespa scooter 150.
If you’re a Vespa enthusiast who also tinkers with Photoshop doing some graphic designs and layouts, you may want to consider downloading a couple of Vespa typeface which are fonts similar to the logo seen in the legsheild badge (see below).
